Guerilla Fashion & More at First Thursdays - 1 March 2012
It’s first Thursdays time again and, because our event coincides with NZ Fashion Festival this year, fashion will be a big theme – fashion with a K’ Road twist that is.  On the programme for  1 March we’re planning a vintage fashion parade with models on bicycles (courtesy of Waitemata Local Board), a blogger's closet raid, guerilla street fashion showcased on the street’s rubbish bins and workshops on home crafts such as knitting, mending and fabric printing.

Highlights being introduced by The Big Idea manager, Margaret Lewis, include a ‘Dress Up Box Space’ where young designers without a retail presence will make themselves and their designs available to the public and a ‘What the Frock’   project where K’ Road rubbish bins will sport skirts themed to match their location on the street.  For example, a bin outside a local bank could be adorned with a skirt crafted from former deposit slips.

All the usual drawcards including the Foxes craft market in St Kevin’s Arcade, live entertainment in Ironbank, street entertainment and exhibitions at numerous local cafes and galleries will also still be on the agenda.
